November 6-9^th All 4-6^th grade students will take Iowa Assessments.  It is important that students get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast and be at school on time.  Please avoid scheduling appointments on these days.

Tuesday, October 31 All sixth grade students will perform at the East Central Iowa Choral Directors Youth Choir Clinic.  Please have your son/daughter wear nice school clothes on this day.  We will leave school at 8:45, perform at 10:00, and return to school at 11:30.  The 6^th graders will be singing three songs for a clinician and receiving feedback.  You will hear them sing these songs at their Fall Concert on November 14

The Benton Theater presents "Mary Poppins" on Friday, Nov. 3, Saturday, Nov. 4 at 7:00 pm.  Sunday, Nov. 5 is at 2:00pm.  Tickets are $7 for adults, $6 for students & seniors (60+). Reserve your tickets by calling Amy Eggert at MS/HS office, 228-8701 ext 357. 

As the weather cools off students are starting to wear coats, please take a minute and write names or initials on the tags so we can eliminate the collection in lost and found.

​  Coats must be worn if the temperature is 50 degrees or lower.  ​

Bookmarks are going home with all students today that include a username and password to access Grant Wood AEA Online Resources. The online products are great for research, projects, creating presentations, reading and more. These valuable resources are free to all Benton Community staff, students, and parents.  If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Speer at bspeer@benton.k12.ia.us.

Boys Hot Shots and Future Stars Hot Shots start at 8:30 Saturday and Future Stars starts at 10:00. If your son did not turn in the form they can come to the gym Saturday morning and fill one out there. 

NOTE FROM THE NURSE’S OFFICE

Dear Parents and Guardians,

           It is that time of year when cold and flu viruses start to spread.  Help us keep our students healthy and stop the spread of illness.  Please keep your child home from school when they are sick and teach them good hygiene practices (ex. hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or arm).

            Students are not allowed to return to school unless they have been fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of medication.  In the case where the illness is treated with antibiotics, the student must be on the antibiotic for 24 hours before returning to school.
